A Provençal Style Rosé From the Heart of the Barossa

Rogers & Rufus have created a bone dry Rosé of texture and delicacy. Savoury, light and extremely approachable, it can be enjoyed with a broad range of cuisine as well as by itself.

Lightheartedly referred to as "lunch water" amongst its friends, Rogers & Rufus is the perfect accompaniment to a long lunch, afternoon by the pool, celebration or, indeed, just about anything! Its pale hue and delicious taste are guaranteed to transport you to thoughts of sunshine and good times!

Established in 2007, Rogers & Rufus is the tale of two vignerons whose passion for wine is matched with a love for the frivolous summer months. When pondering what to imbibe one evening, it was apparent that their ice buckets lacked one vital summer ingredient: a cold, crisp, pale Rosé. So Rogers & Rufus was born.

Rogers

An Australian professional winemaker of great repute, Rogers Hill-Smith runs the oldest family owned winery in Australia, Yalumba. He is never happier than when that summer sun starts to shine, the Aussie test match looms and the water of Kangaroo Island is calling his name - add a glass of rosé, and it’s the closest thing to Utopia a man can get.

Rufus

A British entrepreneur and a visionary at heart, Rufus Clevely has always been an ideas man. His wine journey started at well-known champagne house, Veuve Clicquot, for 19 years before revolutionising the Gastropub scene across Blighty. Nostalgic for the romance and glamour of a forgotten era, Rufus has a passion for vintage cars and is a man that truly embodies joie de vivre!.

With a shared appetite for the finer things in life, the two set about creating the best expression of Australian Rosé possible. Their experienced palates have sought out a delicious savoury vibrant wine from the Barossa Valley showcasing the wonderful resource that is dry grown Bush Vine Grenache. The result is a pale salmon-pink wine, with a savoury rather than fruity style: its palate is subtle, delicate and properly dry. Most importantly, it is eminently quaffable!

Why Barossa Grenache?

Now into its 13th vintage, Rogers & Rufus is made from 100% Grenache grown in the heart of the Barossa in some of its most premium vineyards. This is a Rosé made by people who really know and care about wine, and the results show! Fruit for this uniquely un-Australian Rosé is sourced from four select Grenache blocks in the Barossa Valley, chosen for their sandy soils and all of which are either bush vines, or bush vines converted to a single wire trellis. We handpick the Grenache throughout March. A multitude of wine people since the 19th century have regularly declared the Barossa to be a winemakers paradise- a place capable of producing outstanding quality wine across an extraordinary breadth of styles, varieties and flavours. The Barossa is blessed with exceptionally good and old Grenache vineyards on sandy loams soils over clay.
